The bloom time of Tofieldia may overlap with that of the snowy orchid. They both bloom in early summer. From a distance, they may be confused. Close inspection shows this flower to have a very different structure from the orchid. It is a member of the lily family, and has slender, grass-like leaves (as does the snowy orchid).
