Ferns are some of the most ancient plants. The Cinnamon Fern for example is considered a living fossil with records as far back as 75 million years.They are not agriculturally significant but in many places in Asia their new shoots or fiddleheads are considered vegetables and regularly eaten.
Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve is a 501c3 charitable corporation, and donations, while never a requirement for a visit, are always welcome and are tax-deductible.

Tuesday, May 1, 2018. 10:00 a.m. Place: 2405 Avenue I, Huntsville, Tx.
Workdays: We shall have a work day December 15, 2018. We shall be working from approximately 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Following the workday activities, at 1:30, there will be a meeting, at the preserve, to discuss design of the new boardwalk that we hope to install to replace the old one. Anyone who is interested may attend.

Wildflower Walk: April 21, 2018 Starts at 9:30 am. Leader: Joe Liggio. All interested people are welcome to attend.

Mushroom Walk. November 10, 2018 Starts at 10:00 am. Leaders: David and Patricia Lewis. Any interested person is welcome. Good opportunity to learn more about mushrooms.
