Ferns are some of the most ancient plants. The Cinnamon Fern for example is considered a living fossil with records as far back as 75 million years.They are not agriculturally significant but in many places in Asia their new shoots or fiddleheads are considered vegetables and regularly eaten.
Watson Rare Native Plant Preserve is a 501c3 charitable corporation, and donations, while never a requirement for a visit, are always welcome and are tax-deductible.
