Extensive areas of the Preserve are covered with this fern which tends to overwhelm other plants. In reading about this I found out that many people consider it a noxious weed. In the Highlands of England it became so invasive that the government installed special water filters to prevent its spread. I can see why.

January 11th 9:00 am - NoonNEW TIME: 1PM to 4PM We will be clearing near the boardwalks using weed-eaters to prepare for the prescribed burn. Bring your cordless weed-eater and safety equipment. We will also be doing some raking. Bring a garden rake.We will provide water and snacks.
