DSC01447 Kentucky Wisteria (Wisteria frutescens)
This is a NATIVE wisteria. It looks much like Chinese wisteria, but is not quite as aggressive in its growth habits. It looks much like the exotic wisteria, but the flower looks a little different. It is fragrant, but it does not smell the same as the exotic species. Its bloom time is different. There are several specimens on the preserve, but the best place to look for blooming specimens has been along the earthen dam that creates Lake Hyatt. Photographed April 27, 2013.

Mushroom Walk
Friday, June 20th from 10AM to 2PM David Lewis will be here to teach us about what we find at the preserve. Bring water and mosquito repellent.
Volunteer Workday
For the month of June you may join a work group at the preserve by sending an email to watsonrnpp@gmail.com. Put Volunteer in the subject line and tell us what day you want to come. You can request multiple days. Bring safety gear and mosquito repellent. We will provide tools, water and snacks.
