At first glance, one might suppose that those white things are petals, but they are not. They are phyllaries, or bracts subtending the flowers. The flowers are the rose-colored structures. They are disk flowers--this composite is lacking ray flowers. Peak bloom time: April.

Volunteer Workday

January 11th 9:00 am - Noon NEW TIME: 1PM to 4PM
We will be clearing near the boardwalks using weed-eaters to prepare for the prescribed burn. Bring your cordless weed-eater and safety equipment. We will also be doing some raking. Bring a garden rake.
We will provide water and snacks.
