As you can see, the area immediately on either side had been cleared with a weedeater. In the past, the boardwalk had been damaged by fire because it was too difficult to get precise control. Clearing a strip on either side allows the boardwalk to be easily protected. We have Jim Willis to thank for most of this preparatory work.

Volunteer Workday

For the month of June you may join a work group at the preserve by sending an email to watsonrnpp@gmail.com. Put Volunteer in the subject line and tell us what day you want to come. You can request multiple days. Bring safety gear and mosquito repellent. We will provide tools, water and snacks.
