In March of 2012, a group known as Alternative Teen Break spent a day repairing a section of boardwalk. This was a group of high school students who chose to spend their spring break doing something constructive! Our thanks to the Houston Zoo and the Big Thicket National Preserve for making this possible. Thank you also to the volunteers from the Piney Wood Lakes Chapter of the Texas Master Naturalists who assisted that day.
