Why would you like to join the Watson Preserve Ning Website? You must answer the question to join. Please let us know!: My wife and I found the preserve while touring the Big thicket in search of longleaf pine stands. We live in a 100-year-old house in Austin made entirely out of longleaf pine. When we added a garage apartment in 2015–2017, we made a point of salvaging longleaf out of other century homes that were slated for demolition. I work in the solar industry, but my passion project is trying to divert longleaf pine out of the landfill. Educating the community about the unique qualities of longleaf pine wood and ecosystems is critical to that effort.
